Rant 6: Are you really that stupid, or are you just trying to piss me off?We all see it. Someone who does something so blatantly stupid, someone forgets that its just a game and will start cussing someone out for being a moron. For more details on that, see my previous rant. This rant, however, is about specific cases of idiocy and how to avoid them. Yes, I know teaching you to be less stupid is more likely than not going to be fruitless, but, as long as I try, I can berate you further because now you have no excuse. Lylo because of yak? No lynch time!I wish I could say I was making this up, but I'm really not. All too often, I see people forget about the Yakuza when calling out "Mylo, we no lynch now!" I've even seen a case where a tracker produced a guilty at lylo, but the town no lynched anyway because "It was lylo and tracker might be yaked", please note that the Yakuza had not died yet, and it was actually lylo. Tracker died that night, scum wins, town is baffled at how their great plan failed. How to avoid thisBe less stupid. Thats really all there is to it. Its a simple matter of knowing basic arithmetic. If "arithmetic" is too big of a word for you to comprehend, it means "math". If you don't know the word "comprehend" either, die in a fire.* *Anyone who does not speak English as a first language is excluded from this; however, I'm sure I can find other reasons why you should die in a fire if I knew you. Here is how it works. You count the remaining people alive. You subtract 1 for the nightkill, then you subtract an addition 1 for each yak remaining. If that number you have now is greater than or equal to half the remaining living then guess what, its lylo and you need to lynch. If you have trouble figuring this out, get yourself a playing card and use it to cover up names from the bottom to account for the nightkill and the Yakuza. Then check the people you haven't covered, if the game could continue if thats all thats left and no more scum have died, its lylo. The investigator has no idea what they are doingWhen someone claims cop or tracker, and nobody counter-claims, if the setup has whispers, everyone whispers their claim to the cop. Anything that's not counter-claimed in there is automatically clear. So why the hell do I see cops burning an investigation on power roles that nobody counter claimed? I've seen cases where the un-countered bomb told the cop they were bomb. Cop was fine with that, and then the bomb told them they were going to leak a doc claim to get killed. The doc died the following night, cop had a guilty. The following night, cop looked at the bomb because "Obviously they aren't doc and therefore must be scum". Really? This is the sort of thing that fills me with hatred and contempt for my fellow human beings. How to avoid thisBe less stupid. I mean it, all you have to do is pay attention to whats in front of you and be aware of what people tell you. If you know for a fact that someone is clear, you don't need to spend a night looking at them. Its not that difficult. Whups, didn't see I was recruitedThis is very much irritating. Take a reverse mafia setup. it comes down to lylo, and masons successfully recruited the last traitor. It is now 3 masons against 2 scum. All of this is spelled out in the day, town knows who the scum is unquestionably, they can not possibly lose now. Unless some moron manages to do all of the following:
How to avoid thisBe less stupid. Amazing how many problems that solves, isn't it? But yes, its just that simple. In a game where your role can be changed without warning, you should be checking your icon every morning to make sure you know what you are. Also note that you absolutely need to be aware of the conversation going on in the day. There is no excuse for either of those. If you're not reading the chat, you're not playing the game. If you're not playing the game, you shouldn't be sitting at a table.
In conclusionPay attention. What, you wanted some big and profound advice? Sorry to disappoint, but thats really all there is to it. Pay attention to the game you are playing in. At the very least, read the chat. The town has discussion for a reason. Think before you act. I know that may be difficult for some of you, but the more you think the better you will become at it. It is always frustrating when someone is stupid and shoots their own side in the foot just because they weren't paying attention. CommentsTek > You --Manning015 02:19, 21 April 2009 (UTC) |
