System messages are messages in red generated by the system showing to some or all players during the game. Understanding, utilizing, identifying, and faking are integral parts of EpicMafia games.

Messages to town or all

Death reports

In this section, player1 is the username of the player who died.

  • Normal death
(player1), the (role), has died a bloody death.
  • When a player was cleaned up by a Janitor (note: this message is not shown to Janitor)
(player1) is missing!
  • When a Gallis dies because a vote is on him: (the normal death message "(player1), the gallis, has died a bloody death." is also shown)
(player1) feels immensely frustrated!
  • After shooting with a gun
You hear a gunshot.
(player1) reveals a gun and shoots (player2)!
  • After a virgin dies (note that this message will appear regardless of how the virgin has died)
The virgin has been sacrificed!
  • Message that appears when a player has said a cursed word.
(player1) feels a chill and falls to the ground!

Kicking an Inactive Player

(player1) turned into a vegetable!

Message shown when Interceptor identity is revealed

This message is only revealed if two or more persons get intercepted.

You discover that (player1) is the interceptor!

Message shown when Clockmaker's clock reaches 11

Your watch whispers to you. You have one extra life.

Messages shown only to special village-aligned roles

Baker

When a Baker gives someone bread, they will receive the following message:

You have received a bread!

Bulletproof

When a Bulletproof has been hit, this message is shown to him on the next day (or on the night following a Hunter shot):

A bullet hits your vest! You cannot survive another hit!

Bodyguard

The Bodyguard works alone at night, so multiple bodyguards will each have separate meetings.

A Bodyguard chooses who to protect.

If the Bodyguard died protecting someone, then only they will see a message appear on the night that they died.

(player1) died protecting (player2).

Cop

In night meetings, the Cop votes.

In night meetings, if there is more than 1 cop, they do share a meeting.

If a Cop chooses "player1" to investigate at night, one of the following reports will be shown to him on the next day.

After investigations, you suspect that (player1) is sided with the village.

or

After investigations, you suspect that (player1) is sided with the mafia.

When investigating a third-party role, the Cop will get a report showing that the player is sided with the village, except in the following cases:

After investigations, you suspect that (player1) is sided with the werewolves.

When a sane cop investigates a werewolf, and

After investigations, you suspect that (player1) is sided with the aliens.

When a paranoid cop investigates an alien.

Watcher

If a watcher chooses to watch player1 at night, a report will be shown to him on the next day

You watched (player1) throughout the night. (player2), (player3) has visited (player1).
or
You watched (player1) throughout the night. No one has visited (player1).

Tracker

If a Tracker chooses to track player1 at night, a report will be shown to him on the next day

You followed (player1) throughout the night. (player1) visited (player2), (player3).

or

You followed (player1) throughout the night. (player1) visited no one.

Mortician

If the Mortician chooses a target at night, he will know the target's role the next day

You learned that (playerA) is a (role)!

Jailed Player

If a player is jailed by the Jailer, this message is shown to the jailed player:

You have been blindfolded and sent to jail!

Disguised Player

This message is shown when someone is disguised as.

(player1) has stolen your identity!

Messages shown only to mafia-sided roles

Janitor

If the Janitor chooses a target at night, and the target died, a message will be shown to him showing the role of the dead person.

While cleaning up the mess, you learned that (player1) was a (role).

Stalker

If the stalker chooses a target at night, he will know the target's role the next day

Through stalking, you learned that (player1) is a (role)!

Disguiser

Disguiser gets this message after they disguise as someone

You are now disguised as (player1)!

Messages shown only to third-party roles

Clockmaker

You glance at your watch. The time is (time).
Your watch whispers to you. You have 1 extra life.

Lyncher

You feel very irritated by (playerA).

Politician

Politician's alignment changes over the course of the game.

If a politician is town-sided, they will get at night the following message:

You feel particularly aligned with the village.

If a politician is mafia-sided, they will get this message at night instead:

You feel particularly aligned with the mafia.

Messages when Last Wills are involved

The player who typed a will sees this message after the will is typed:

You wrote a will.

If a player has left a will at night this message will be shown to all:

As read from the last will of (player1): (will)

If a player has left no will at night but the setup includes Last Wills this message will be shown to all:

(player1) did not leave a will!
