Playing Epic Mafia Epic Mafia, a live chat mafia site, was created by lucidrains in January of 2008. It is played real-time, using a live chatting and voting system. On 5 February 2010 Epic Mafia was upgraded to Epic Mafia 2.0. Epic Mafia was upgraded to Epic Mafia 3.0 on the 29 January 2011. There are 3 simple steps involved in playing Epic Mafia: discussing during the day voting to lynch performing actions at night Click "Join game" in the lobby to play a game. Introduction Mafia is a game of psychology that was introduced in 1986 in Moscow State University. It started off very simply, with basic roles such as villager and mafia. The mafia were the informed minority and the village was the uninformed majority. The game slowly evolved and several variants were created, including Werewolf. The roles are now a lot more complicated, and additional rules have been added. Mafia came onto the Internet as the Internet became more widely used, and people played Mafia online via e-mails. It spread to other mediums, such as forum mafia, or Epic Mafia.

Basics Every person is assigned a role at the start of the game. You are randomly sided with either the village, the mafia, or a third party. During the night, the mafia secretly meet and discuss to decide who they want to kill, while other power roles decide what to do. During the day, the village players must figure out who is not sided with the village and get rid of them. You will play as either mafia, villager, or a third party! Your goal is to converse with other players and advance towards your own goals. Your skills in persuasion and lying will determine the outcome of the game.
