System Messages

If a Cop chooses "player1" to investigate at night, one of the following reports will be shown to him on the next day.

After investigations, you suspect that (player1) is sided with the village.

or

After investigations, you suspect that (player1) is sided with the mafia.

When investigating a third-party role, the Cop will get a report showing that the player is sided with the village.

Investigation Notes

The Yakuza's target will be displayed as village if the cop checks them the same night they are yakked. However if the cop checks the yakked target any night after that, they will be shown as sided with the mafia.

Strategies and Tactics

  • If there is a doctor or bodyguard and no driver or hooker, claim out loud to be protected.
  • If there are no whispers, keep the investigation to yourself (unless it outs the mafia)
  • If there are whispers, it depends on the situation. Usually it's wise whispering the innocent, HOWEVER sometimes it might out the power roles, give Yakuza a cleared target, expose the cop by leaked whisper, in games with miller/traitor/lawyer/godfather investigation could be false, etc.
  • If the doctor/bodyguard dies, and you have already let everyone know you are the cop, it can be beneficial to tell the town who the innocent reports are on before going into the night again. This is due to the fact that you will, most likely, be killed that very next night. The only time that this is unwise is when there is a lawyer/godfather, and on certain cases with a living Yakuza.
  • If you are blocked by the hooker in a game with whispers, there's a good chance the mafia doesn't know that you are the cop yet. However, if the village fails to hear a report from the cop, the mafia will figure out that they hooked the cop, and then the will know who you are. Therefore, in that situation it is strongly recommended to fake a cop report. It's probably best to fake a report on yourself, saying that you are sided with the village. Remember to fake the "whispers to" section as well, so it looks like someone else is the cop.
  • ADVANCED STRATEGY: It is sometimes useful when being blocked to state that you received a result on yourself to hide that you are the cop. Example: whispers to (yourname): After investigations, you suspect that (yourname) is sided with the village. This may prevent you from getting blocked in the future.
  • The three "Special" cops usually goes along with the regular cop: Insane, Naive, and Paranoid. Usually, the best option is just do a cop mass-claim, and see who's naive/paranoid/regular. If there's an Insane cop, it's gonna take a little longer to figure out.
  • When in a game with special cops, THINK. Don't hurry lynching someone because you found out he's mafia. You could be insane or paranoid.
