Alternate account
An Alt means an alternate account. As players can only play between 5 and 10 ranked games everyday per account (as limited by the 5 hearts given per day, plus one-half of the remaining hearts from the previous day [no more than 10]), a lot of players created alternate accounts to play more games just for fun or for a trophy run or for trolling. There are also clans of related alts, such as the Consonants,Pokemon, roles etc.
Use of limited amount of alternate accounts is allowed on EpicMafia.
Alts were more widely used when there was no technical limit on the number of alts allowed. This was put to an end due to obvious potential (and actual) abuse from users who would maintain large numbers of alts - some had more than 30 and there were probably a few that claimed to have twice that many. Users now can currently have 1 free alternate account but can pay to have a maximum of 4 alts giving you 5 in total account wise.
Registering Alts
You can register alts on your profile.
Note that some players may have been able to receive more than one free alt. For example, players that were among the first 3000 or so to join the site have been given multiple free alts.
How To Create An Alt
You can create an alt by clicking the logout button then sign up with the new user name you desire, make it a random email account like [email protected] because it really does not matter. Once it's created you will be on that account as a No avy. Now logout of that account and log back into your main account. Click on your profile and then click add alternate account. Enter in the username and the password and you're set! WARNING: DO NOT CONFIRM YOUR ALT'S EMAIL ADDRESS. You can click and play on your alternate account by pressing "change" and can go back to your main by clicking that same button. To make your alternate account your main account, press change then make main.
